![]() We would trade CDs that took hours to make on our computers with songs in Japanese from the anime. I had two friends who were as into Sailor Moon as I was in middle school. I think it had a moving GIF, too, back when they were tiny and extremely grainy. In fact, when we got the internet (me, age 11), the very first website I visited was one whole page dedicated to Sailor Moon, with a midi embedded in the background, that had absolutely no information on Sailor Moon. and if someone picked up the phone, you were disconnected. I started to remember what it was like, when I was thirteen, eagerly searching shoddily made shrine websites to find any iota of new information on my favorite Sailor Senshi. What ended up happening was that I started to peruse some of the many resources for Sailor Moon cosplay and as I searched, something interesting started happening. I should know by now that if I put my mind to something, it will get done. This is ridiculous, considering that last year, I made four garments for my Anne Takamaki costume, including two things I had never made before: a hoodie and pants without a fly-front zipper. Obviously, I love Chiaki more than Sailor Mars, but the difficulty of the costume was making me hesitate. I didn't feel one way or the other about either costume. One of the few times I shop at JoAnne's: $1 pattern days. In the case of the easier costume, which will be l'original Sailor Mars, I have both the McCalls pattern and the Simplicity pattern. In the case of the difficult costume, which would have been Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne's Chiaki, I had already purchased 3 yards of an orchid stretch denim to create her cropped jacket and dress (I'm still thinking about how to connect them together to make them look like one piece). I have been planning a Halloween costume and I had two choices in mind, one of which would have been quite difficult, the other a bit easier considering all the resources to be found online. I ended up in a strange fabric conundrum these past two weeks. Picture from Miss Dream, just cropped by me. ![]()
